Scandals

What Scandals?

Let me get this straight, Eric Holder is ordering the Department of Justice to investigate the IRS scandal that targeted conservative groups since 2010.  Meanwhile the DOJ itself is involved in a scandal when they secretly obtained phone records from up to 20 AP reporters and editors.   Not to mention there was an event that happened “a long time ago” in Benghazi, but really “what difference does it make?”  Is there time for a fourth scandal?  Enter Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, investigated by House committee for soliciting donations from companies her agency might regulate, to help sign up uninsured Americans for Obama Care (which is plumb full of scandal and corruption itself).

These scandals are coming “Fast and Furious”….oh, that sounds familiar as well…and not just because of Vin Diesel.  Of course, our Commander and Chief was not aware of none of this.  He was probably on vacation or campaigning, like he was when four American’s were being murdered because of a video.  Right Susan Rice?

Maybe it’s just me….But Jay Carney is starting to remind me more and more each day of this guy.

Maybe this is why?

Just when I was finished writing this I come across another scandal involving the EPA hassling conservatives group.  Obama once referred to fellow Americans as enemies, simply because they differed from him.  Actions speak louder than words, and these actions (scandals) speak loudly to me.  In 2010 House Speaker John Boehner never said something so true:

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a president in the White House who referred to Americans who disagree with him as ‘our enemies.’ Think about that. He actually used that word. When Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush used the word ‘enemy,’ they reserved it for global terrorists and foreign dictators — enemies of the United States. Enemies of freedom. Enemies of our country. Today, sadly, we have president who uses the word ‘enemy’ for fellow Americans — fellow citizens. He uses it for people who disagree with his agenda of bigger government — people speaking out for a smaller, more accountable government that respects freedom and allows small businesses to create jobs. Mr. President, there’s a word for people who have the audacity to speak up in defense of freedom, the Constitution, and the values of limited government that made our country great. We don’t call them ‘enemies.’ We call them ‘patriots.

Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian might be the greatest humans on earth.  Lamar started a charity organization called “Cathy’s Kids” in 2004 after his mother passed from stomach cancer.  Khloe is very active in the program and even auctions off her old clothing (probably given to her in the first place) to help fund Cathy’s Kids.

To date, more than 2.2 million dollars has been raised.  According to reports, not a single dollar has been given to cancer research.  Instead, 1.3 million dollars has been used to fund two elite AAU traveling youth basketball teams.  In addition, an annual salary of $72,000 was given to the organizations secretary, Jerry DeGregorio.  Who happens to be a long-time friend and best man at Odom’s wedding to Khloe.

ESPN, which did the investigation, reported that the “charity” has been dormant for years and showed a loss of $256,000 in their 2011 tax reports.  However, Khloe still uses their Ebay account to auction merchandise for “Cathy’s Kids” and it states “all auction items benefit Cathy’s Kids, a Lamar Odom Foundation.”

When approached by reporters about the organization and money, Odom responded “It’s my money.”  Nothing like stealing money in the name of cancer kids.  It’s the Kardashian way (stealing money).  Why are they famous again?  Oh yeah.  What a despicable family.  Lamar fits right in.

Really, NFL?

ImageLucy never allowed Charlie Brown to kick a football.  And now we know why.  She wanted to kick.  Lauren Silberman became the first woman to try out at a regional combine for the NFL this past weekend.

I first caught wind of this a week or so ago and watched her “hit” field goals, the equivalent of a PAT (point after try).  In that video, she barely makes it over the cross bar.  However, Ms. Silberman boasts she can make field goals up to 60 yards.  However, there is no video evidence to support these claims.  And judging by her performance at the regional combine…it’s safe to say she lied about that.

Lauren Silberman

Her approach on the ball was horrible and as noted; the ball traveled 19 yards on her first attempt.  Her 2nd kick only traveled 13 yards.  These were traditional kick off attempts (not field goals), where NFL kickers can routinely kick the ball 70 to 80 yards in the air.  Of course she injured her quad on the first kick…or at least that is her claim.

The NFL is on record as saying they will turn over ever stone to ensure they find the hidden talent.  However, I am not sure that is the case with Ms. Silberman.  She had no business on the field.  You could just tell by her approach on the ball and her kicking style this woman had no chance.  So, why the PR stunt?

This was not a case of opening doors for women in professional sports.  This was a mockery and embarrassment.  She is a disgrace to serious women athletes everywhere. She did them no favors with this blatant publicity stunt.  She went on to say that she “hopes more woman will follow her footsteps”.  Finally she added this: “The distance wasn’t there but hopefully the scouts will notice my technique,” Silberman said. “It’s not always length.”  AAUGH!  Yeah, NFL teams are lining up to sign kickers with great technique that can boot it 19 yards.

Dee from It’s Always Sunny

On second thought, Lauren isn’t even the first woman to try out for a professional team.  Sweet Dee, from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, dressed as a man and tried out as a punter for the Eagles.  The result was the same…she injured herself after one kick.

Locally owned Fortune 500 company Target is being taken on by two organizations for “unfair hiring processes” because Target does criminal background checks.  R U Kidding Imageme?  The two organizations; NAACP and Take Action Minnesota recently met at the Hennepin County Government center for a joint press conference.

Jeff Martin, President of the NAACP’s St. Paul chapter said he was “proud to stand in solidarity with TakeAction Minnesota as we work to call attention to a very serious problem. We believe it is unacceptable for a corporate citizen such as Target to practice blanket exclusionary hiring tactics that contribute to our worst-in-the-nation racial jobs gap. We expect more of Target and are calling on Target to partner with us to move our state forward.” Martin said the NAACP will provide assistance and resources to individuals who believe they have been discriminated against based on their criminal background

First off…how is this a racial issue?  And second…maybe these organizations should do a better job of ensuring the people they represent don’t commit crimes.  Is it wrong that Target wants its employees and customers to be safe and not have to worry about being a victim while shopping or working?

Criminal background checks is not a new concept and it’s not an employers job to provide Imagesecond and third chances to people.  America has a problem and it’s this “everyone is a victim” mindset.  I am so tired of it.  America is the land of opportunity.  Or, it was.  It is now the land of handouts.  You see examples of this everyday now.  Headlines that make me sick to my stomach.  I almost hate reading the news anymore.  This stuff is driving me nuts.  Everyone has their hands out looking for something for nothing.  Take some accountability…”you reap what you sow”.  That means that your actions have consequences.

Ok sorry for the rant.
